Proud of being cheap
You want all of your money to get where it should go, and so do we. We take no administrative costs from what you give. Also we use PayPal, which does not charge for delivering funds to Ukraine. THANK YOU PayPal!
Areas we serve
Right now we help pastors we know personally in Kramatorsk, Kremenchuk, Odessa and Zaporizhia. We also help the nations of Georgia and Estonia.
Publishing good news
Shepherd's Purse has been involved in Christian publishing since its beginning. We will continue.

Shepherd's Heart (formerly known as Shepherd's Purse) is an IRS approved 501(c)3 charity dedicated to helping the needy, primarily in Ukraine. Help is both practical (food, medicine, clothes) and spiritual, with the good news of Jesus.
Our ministry partners in the nation of Georgia, Fabula Publishing (David Aslanyann and Guja Chachanidze) asked our help in publishing a booklet this fall for atheists and agnostics for the nation of Georgia. Above are photos of church members getting their copies. We sent $2000 to help them print 5000 copies of "Does God Exist?" They are distributing it to all the evangelical churches in that nation. I have taught at the Bible school there four times and greatly love the Georgian people. THANK YOU for giving so that we can provide help to these needs. NOTE: This booklet is also available in English, French and Dutch in case you are interested.

Pastor Yuri in Kramatorsk (shown above with his family) let us know that Russian bombing has destroyed the power system in their city and they go two to three days without light or heat. We asked how we could help and he said they needed a battery station to power the church PA system and projector, and they could use blankets for the many senior citizens in the church who have no heat. We were able to send them $2500. It is a blessing to know that on the other side of the world, a Ukrainian grandmother is warm thanks to your giving! The other photos are of a church meeting in which I preached in August, and the city civic center.

Ministry trip to Ukraine this summer

Executive Director Rev. Kerby (Sheila) Rials
Twenty-three years ago, we discovered that hundreds of children were living on the streets of Ukraine and Russia. Products of abuse, abandonment and alcoholic parents, these children banded together, living in sewers and the dark basements of high-rise apartments. The Lord broke our heart and soon after He birthed Shepherd’s Purse, a ministry to “the forgotten ones.”
Eventually most of these forgotten ones were housed in orphanages and our focus shifted to sending ministry teams, supplies, prayer and encouragement. After several years, the Lord opened the doors to help widows also, and now those in the war-torn areas.
The Lord even provided funds through generous donors to construct a building in India that houses 24 poor boys and staff. The ministry is now in the process of adding a third story and expanding their ministry to poor villages where they hold children’s programs and help widows.
Shepherd’s Purse has taken over 100 team members to these sites for ministry trips. Michael has personally taken 25 trips to Ukraine, Russia, Nicaragua, Estonia, Poland and Ireland. God has been very good! And now, as founder Michael Wetzel retires and Shepherd's Purse becomes Shepherd's Heart, we are passing the baton to our good friend Kerby Rials, and his new board of directors. We pray our blessings on this new journey and look forward to seeing what Jesus will do next.
